The Choir at Holy Trinity
The church choir rehearses weekly on Thursdays from 7.00 to 8.00 p.m. It comprises four sopranos, four altos, two tenors and four basses
Attendance percentages at both practices and services are very high, reflecting the keenness and loyalty of the singers.
The choir takes its chief role of leading the musical aspect of worship each Sunday very seriously, a priority always being given to singing the hymns, with confidence.
However, the choir’s role extends well beyond this. Anthems, some of which are ambitious for a village church choir, are learned and performed regularly, both during Sunday services and at weddings.
There are two major choral services during the year, these being the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols and either a Passiontide service based on ‘The Cross of Christ’ or the Easter Day service.
The church is currently fortunate enough to have two good organists to accompany services, both of whom sing in the choir when not playing.
The choir has been invited to sing ‘away fixtures’, including another church’s Harvest Festival and at a wedding.
Additionally it has been actively involved in fundraising charity concerts with students from Lady Manners School, Bakewell, and has also raised well over £1000 for the church by undertaking a sponsored ‘hymnathon’.
New members are always warmly welcomed.
